Top PlayStation4 VR Games For 2018

Top PlayStation4 VR Games For 2018

The PlayStation VR headset was released over a year ago to great acclaim.

The idea that a games console could drive such a resource-heavy piece of technology so well was truly remarkable, and it certainly showed that console VR was not something to look for in the future.

While Microsoft has all but shelved its plans for an official Xbox One VR headset, the PS VR is still going strong. It already has a strong library of games behind it, with much more slated to be released in 2018.

This is one of the strongest reasons as to why you should get the PS VR. Not only is it incredibly affordable, but it will continue to have a strong game lineup as well.

In this article, we’ll be looking at the top PlayStation 4 VR games for 2018.

The Most Anticipated VR Games For PlayStation In 2018

Golem

Golem is an adventure game set in a beautiful world that’s coming to the PlayStation 4 in 2018.

It’s a PS VR exclusive as well, so you won’t be able to experience it on any other platform. In this game, you’re transported into the world through the eyes of stone creatures.

The game features melee combat and will make extensive use of the Move motion controllers. This looks like it could be one of the most exciting upcoming VR games for the PlayStation 4.

The American Dream

The American Dream is a more relaxed and fun way to enjoy VR while immersed in beautiful and colourful graphics.

The game takes place in a fictional 1950s setting during a World’s Fair. The game has a satirical premise in which each aspect of routine life involves the use of guns. The challenge will be to do various activities using guns which you will be controlling using the Move controllers.

A simple and fun way to spend time in VR!

Alvo

Alvo uses the tried-and-tested tactical shooter formula and attempts to translate it into a compelling VR experience. It is an online shooter where the user will be using a VR headset.

We haven’t seen many first-person shooter games being brought into the VR realm as these sort of games tend to be quite fast-paced.

The game features the classic modes associated with popular tactical shooters like Counter Strike such as Search and Destroy, Death Match and Domination.

The fast-paced nature of FPS and the dexterity they required seems to be only suited to a mouse or console controller but the developers behind Alvo have made the game for motion controller input. This is certainly a very curious thing and we can’t wait to try it out.

The game also comes with cross-platform support which for the time being, the PlayStation 4 does not support. What that could have meant otherwise is that the game would be handling players on the Xbox One, PS 4 and PC simultaneously.

And since everyone is required to use motion controllers with a VR headset, it would be quite an even playground.

Dead Secret

Dead Secret is a game where the player is placed right in the middle of a murder scene.

The details at first are quite scarce and the player is responsible for examining the place for clues. As the details unravel, a more sinister plot emerges and the game takes an exciting turn.

This is certainly a very thrilling VR experience that will slowly take you in as your mind is fixed on solving a crime in another world. The VR makes it much more compelling and immersive, and that’s what makes this such a good game.

It’s currently available for Samsung Gear VR but will be coming to the PS VR next year.

Blasters of the Universe

Blasters of the Universe is an action first person game which brings the unique “bullet hell” genre to VR.

The player will be able to craft their own game using a seemingly unlimited amount of combinations of different components. The real action takes place during the game where the player is required to duck and dodge, physically, from an onslaught of bullets.

The game takes notice of the space available to the player and adjusts the action accordingly. The best strategy in this game is about finding a sweet spot where bullets will simply fly by you. Finding that sweet spot does take some time though and that’s where the action happens.

All of this makes for a really gripping and physically challenging action game.

We’re also particularly impressed by the colourful graphics as this will only enhance the enjoyment when experienced through the immersive lens of VR.

Dragonflight VR

Has it been a childhood dream of yours to ride a dragon? Well chances are, it’s going to stay a dream seeing as dragons are creatures of pure fantasy.

Not all is lost though, as VR is here to offer you an experience that will make you feel as if you’re riding a real dragon.

That’s probably exaggerating things quite a bit but it’s still quite interesting to watch the giant wings of these fire-breathing beasts while you ride high in the skies.

From what we’ve seen, it doesn’t look too graphically advanced but we’re hoping a PS VR release next year will see better visuals as well. There’s a lot of potential in this idea, and we hope the developers behind this game do the idea justice.

Knockout League

Knockout League is a boxing VR experience that lets the player hone their punches through 1:1 punch movement replication.

Today’s VR headsets have advanced motion controllers that are able to capture small changes in movements, and it’s games like Knockout League that can take great advantage of that. Not only can you punch around in this game, but you also get to train in other boxing-related movements such as pacing around and dodging.

You can play against a complete cast of crazy characters with various skill levels and get the thrill of boxing from the comfort of your own room!

Final Thoughts

The PlayStation VR might have had a lot of the limelight stolen from it with newer iterations of the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift but it still remains a very impressive piece of VR hardware.

The PlayStation 4 is capable of outputting some wonderful visuals and the PS VR can certainly keep taking advantage of that in the future. We’ve mentioned only a few of the games that are expected to be released for PS VR next year.

The actual number of games could be well over 50 and that’s certainly very good news for PS VR users.

Fresh VR games and content is necessary in order to keep the interest of existing VR owners as well as newcomers.

Judging from the current state of VR games, we can safely say that VR isn’t going anywhere.

And if you’re a PlayStation 4 owner who’s on the fence about buying the PS VR system, at least get to try one. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the capabilities of the console you haven’t explored yet.

These were just some of the top PlayStation VR games for 2018, but to play any of them, you would need a VR headset. Read more on where to buy some of the most affordable VR headsets for gaming to make your VR gaming experience a reality!.
